Clinell Alcoholic 2% Chlorhexidine wipes not only reduce the risk of sepsis for central venous catheter connector, in catheters used for intravenous nutrition, but also improve the patients' chances of recovering intestinal function.

  A new study from Great Ormond Street hospital, published in Clinical Nutrition, has concluded that a change from only using isopropanol to the use of Clinell Alcohol 2% chlorhexidine, for the disinfection of CVC hubs, was followed by a major fall in catheter related sepsis in infants and children with severe intestinal failure, who were receiving PN via their catheter. The results support the UK guidelines on catheter handling which advocate the use of 2% chlorhexidine in isopropanol for catheter connector disinfection. In addition there was a significant improvement in outcome with more patients gaining enteral autonomy after the infection rate was reduced.   See more details here
